Unilever House

Restoring a listed icon for Unilever’s new global headquarters

The restoration of this listed building by Edwin Lutyens involved giving it a comprehensive overhaul to create a light, modern and sustainable global headquarters for consumer goods giant Unilever.
The work restored a renowned example of 1930s design, whilst creating new, more efficient working spaces on a 400,000 sq ft plot and achieving high standards of sustainability in construction.
The project has been awarded 12 awards, including the Urban Land Institute’s European Award for Excellence, and City Heritage Award for Outstanding Excellence in the Renewal of Buildings and Conservation in 2008.
The project was undertaken with partners including Arup, Sloane Blackfriars and Unilever.
