8-10 Moorgate

Conserving period architecture and enhancing elevations in the financial district

At this former banking headquarters, Stanhope converted 155,000 sq ft of space for financial institution ING, working with classical components from the building to create a refit that worked within the local landscape.
Working within the strict regulations of the Bank Conservation Area, the building retained the famous Portland stone of the area, highlighting various architectural details across the facade, and added four modern terraces on the upper floors.
The project also presented the opportunity to work with features of the building left by the former owner, including art collections and a large wine cellar.
8-10 Moorgate was awarded the City Heritage Award for Best Conservation Enhancement for the City of London in 2015.
The project was delivered in partnership with Mitsui Fudosan.
