Ashford Kent

Ashford's transformation took a huge step forward earlier this year with the signing of a development agreement between Stanhope plc and the South East of England Regional Development Agency (SEEDA).

Stanhope has signed a development agreement with landowners SEEDA to transform the 6.65acre vacant brownfield site in Elwick Place along the south side of Ashford's award-winning shared space scheme into an exciting mix of retail, leisure, residential and business space.

We will be preparing a masterplan over the next few months and submit it for public consultation and planning approval later in the year.  Work on the first phase could start as early as 2011.

This is a key site in the heart of Ashford stretching along the shared spaced scheme, opposite the International Station, from which the high speed 37 minute service to London runs. In the first phase, we plan to create lively, vibrant frontages around the existing public space (Elwick Square) attracting new eateries, perhaps anchored by a multi-screen cinema, and new shops strengthening and complementing Ashford's existing offer and enhancing the link to the station.
