Specialised headquarters that met all of broadcaster ITN's needs while freeing up additional commercial space
Stanhope acquired this site from ITN, along with an existing design for the building.
Working with the news broadcaster, we reconfigured the plans to provide for ITN's specific needs, while also creating a large building that could accommodate other businesses. ITN's newsroom and studios occupy the lower floors of the 10-storey building, serviced by express lifts. This concept allowed us to create simple floorplates on the higher levels suitable for a range of uses.
Two of the building's floors are below ground, extending 30m below street level, but a central atrium provides natural light throughout.
Studio fit-out began just five months after the start of construction and ITN was able to make its first newscast from the building 20 months after the first foundations were laid.
